On account of his training in set design in Vienna, Ernst Reyer grasped the notaion of "drama" in the theatrical sense of the term, and to a cretain whimsicylity which he puts into practice poetically. His drawings reveal an ffiliation with literature which draws him into a graphic world. In this world, unreality is cultivated as an alternative to what he calls "high art", to which he is opposed. Characters, objects and animals such as the Michelin Man and the Tower of Pisa, deconstruct the aesthetic world.
